WELCOME TO PUPPETS, PLAYS AND STORY DAYS BLOG!
May 7, 2010 by puppetsplays
Hi Carol – after meeting you yesterday I’ve already prepared my own version of the Hungry Caterpillar using the velcro glove for use in a lesson plan the week after next, after that I have just placed an order for one of your books too – I’m always looking for new ideas on how to introduce different themes within our session and even ideas for new educational themes so I found your site really useful.
Thanks and hope to see you again soon
Jo
Hi Jo
It was great to meet you all at the NCMA Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Conference – Scunthorpe.
I am delighted that you have already made resources for the glove mitt and ordered a velcro book.
Please let me know what you have done with your book and mitt and send me photos that I can post
on my blog to inspire other childminders.
A web site I have found very useful for Hungry Caterpillar ideas is http://www.dltk.

Oh Carol – did the first lesson plan with the Velcro mitt this morning and two little finger puppets and the kids were fascinated! I let them all choose an item of food from a basket and asked them to talk to mum’s about what it was. I then placed a brown piece of felt on one hand hiding a caterpillar and butterfly finger puppet, placed the glove on the other hand and began to tell the story. Each child brought up the relevant food item and stuck it on the glove at the right moment and when the caterpillar wrapped himself in his cocoon and came out as butterfly there faces were a picture! Will try to get photos but as you may be able tell from my description, my hands are a bit full.
Hi Carol
It was great to meet you and your puppets last Saturday. My daughter, Harriet had a great time playing with the Monster!
There are certainly ways that our products can compliment each other to provide Childminders with educational and inclusive resources.
I’m sure children would love to ‘act out’ the ‘Hattie and friends’ stories with your animal finger puppets.
I really enjoyed the opportunity to introduce my inclusive resources directly to NCMA members.
I look forward to seeing you again at future events.
Hi Lesley
Thank you for sending me the collection of ‘Hattie and friends’ stories. I have a great finger puppet who just looks like Hattie!!
When I get chance I will put the books and finger puppets that relate to them on my web site.
Many Thanks

Sorry – me again! Is there any chance of getting hold of a turtle hand puppet? I can’t find one on your site and there is no rush as I’m writing new lesson plans for use September onwards but it would really enhance a rhyme I’m going to do.
Thanks
Jo
Hi Jo
Just put you a turtle on my web site, look under Animal puppets – Sealife.
He has wonderful mouth movement and loads of personality. He can even put his head back into his shell (with help!).
I also have a Tortoise (looks like a turtle!!) – look under Finger Puppets – More Animals.
Send me some photos when you get chance
Kind Regards
Carol Burton
